Singles Home Exchange for affordable vacationsThe concept of trading homes for vacations is a great idea for single travelers. There is a romantic movie about two singles swapping homes. "The Holiday" . Of course not all singles traveling on an exchange are searching for romance. Most exchangers are open to exploring new frontiers, enjoying a beach, being near relatives or just welcoming a change of pace. All single travelers on an exchange enjoy the savings with free accommodations. Although many singles own homes, most own or rent apartments or condos. These apartments make for a great home base for a home exchange. Travel the world or across your own country with a home swap. In preparing for a home exchange: Describe your home honestly. No unpleasant surprises re pets, appliances on the verge of needing repair, roommates. Leave your home clean and reasonably organized. Clear away enough of your personal belongings to leave space on shelves, in closets, and drawers so that guests can unpack and feel at home. Compile a clear, useful guide to your home and surroundings, including tourist information, directions to nearest public transport, hospital, pharmacy, grocery store, notices about the use of electrical appliances, pet and plant care, trash pick-up, and emergency phone numbers (doctor, neighbor, nearby family member). Clarify who pays what in terms of telephone, computer use and Internet access, electric bills, gas consumption, insurance franchise in case of accidents, and staple foods. Leave a small welcome gift: a bottle of wine or local specialty. Whenever possible arrange for a family member, neighbor, or friend to come by and welcome your exchange partner(s). At the end of your stay, before leaving your exchange home, don't forget to put things back where you found them and leave the house organized and clean.
