Help!  I'm not finding an exchange

Your home exchange ad

If you have registered your home exchange with one or more home swap organizations check your listing.  If a contact form is used (almost all agencies use these) then try it out to be sure contacts are getting through.  Some spam filters are quite sensitive to emails sent via contact forms and discard them as junk mail.

If your organization has an area where you can check for copies of all contacts sent to you via a form, Global Pacific Vacation Homes  offers this members service, then also check this.   I was wondering why we were not receiving inquiries for exchanges to on our own listing.  It had been two months and nothing was coming through.  Unusual for our location.  I checked our internal messaging system to discover that there were 8 inquiries sent to us, but never received.  Thankfully copies were there which included email contacts.  After checking our self edit area I noted that I had placed the wrong email address under contact...  It's now been changed.  Just in time to receive an exchange inquiry from Los Angeles.

A Home Exchange Invitation

If your contact form is working, then have a look at your home exchange ad. You have a terrific opportunity to create an invitation to visit your community and home to prospective home exchangers through your photos and what you mention in your ad. Are there photos of your home and area?  Many people will simply skip over listings that do not include photos.

Have you shared enough about your home.  Be sure that you ad includes the size of your home including the number bedrooms, bathrooms, whether you have a fenced yard, your access to transportation and did you mention something about attractions in your area.   Mention a bit about your family and how many will be traveling on your exchange.

A few years ago we had a new member with a luxury one bedroom apartment in New York City.  He wanted an exchange to a specific area of Europe.  The description was inviting and photos showed a well cared for luxury home.  Ordinarily this would have been a no brainer.  It wasn't will they get an exchange, but rather how many offers will they have to choose from.  Alas, they didn't attract very many responses and none to the area that they want to travel.  Why?  They offered a one bedroom but wanted a home with at least four bedrooms to accommodate all the relatives that would be traveling with them.

Finally, please be honest and accurate about your home.  If you have pets,  have a relative or roommate  that will be in the home during the exchange, are located next to an international airport runway, let you exchange partners know before an exchange is arranged.
