How long do I have to wait?
Trying to find the "perfect exchange match" may reduce your chance of a home swap. Being flexible on locations, dates and accommodation will increase your chances of a good, successful trade which is all most people want. When considering international home exchange offers or for that matter exchanges within your own region or country, most people aren't necessarily seeking a home similar to their own but rather they consider the location. Is it somewhere they would like to visit? Are there places of interest easily accessible from the home? After location, members will check the number of people the home will sleep to decide if it will be suitable and, if they have any special needs, whether these are available in the home. Some Global members will be able to arrange an exchange shortly after they register their home. We have had a new member from Manitoba Canada share that she listed her home on a Friday evening, her desired destination was Germany, Two days later had a contact from Germany that eventually resulted in an exchange. Timing is everything for some members. Most members will find it wise to to continue to send out emails and be patient until they have a contact which can vary from 1 day to 3 months, depending on the time of year that they search for exchanges. When you add your home swap listing to our database, you are not just "placing an advertisement", you are joining a membership group of people, all with the desire to arrange home exchanges. If everyone just enters their listing then sits back, never initiating any contacts themselves no one will ever make a single exchange! In life their are spectators and participants. We want to encourage you to not be a spectator by sitting back and waiting for others to answer your listing. Participate by sending out heaps of emails to other Global Pacific members whose listings interest you. Global Pacific Members have unlimited contacts with other GP members. As a GP member you are also welcome to contact members listings at Home Exchange.4homex.com We have many members who live in popular locations; we also have members who live in smaller less popular areas who manage to arrange exchanges each year, some to international destinations, others with swaps closer to home. They participate in the fun part of searching and sending out inquiries. Many, including ourselves enjoy the search for an exchange almost as much as the exchange itself.
