Vehicle exchanges. Exchanging cars as
part of a home exchange.
Together with exchanging homes you may
swap cars - brilliant for low-cost touring or day trips. Please check
with your insurance agent before you agree to swap vehicles.
From our own car swapping experiences
we recommend that before you exchange cars that you have a written
agreement regarding maintenance, restrictions on mileage and care of the
car. The single most concern expressed by members who have
completed car exchanges is the inequality of maintenance on the vehicles
exchanged.
We had a member ask if it is a
requirement to exchange cars as part of their exchange. Apparently
they had been corresponding with possible exchangers from the UK.
In their correspondence it was stated that it was an expectation that a
car exchange was done. Further, if the couple was unwilling to
exchange cars, they wouldn't get an exchange with anyone from the UK.
This is untruthful and sounds like a
bullying tactic. Plain and simple - if you don't feel
comfortable swapping cars - then don't.
