Our beautiful New Zealand home is in the small community of laingholm, which nestles in some of New Zealand's most beautiful countryside, the Waitakere ranges. Surrounded by the Hauraki gulf and thousands of acres of native bush, humming with native birds such as the Tui, this is an idyllic location and popular with artists, poets and writers. The nearest village is Titirangi, which has it's own theatre and art gallery as well as buzzing cafes where locals congregate. 'Way out west' is reknowned for its eclectic and sometimes eccentric population, and many europeans have settled here. Fishing is a popular pastime,with plenty of snapper and gurnard for tea,as well as giant New Zealand mussels which can be gathered at low tide. Kayaaking, cycling and tramping the many trails in this area are also popular. Our house has sea and bush views and is surrounded by giant native kauri trees. As is popular in NZ we have lots of decking for outside entertaining, a beautiful balcony off the open plan kitchen and living area and a bedroom view to die for! We also have a log fire in the main room, and a self contained downstairs flat for guests or teenagers.
Auckland is only a short drive away, and beautiful Waihiki Island a short ferry hop. Skiing in winter at Mt. Ruapehu is just 4 hours away and of course Australia is just a short two hour hop across the Tasman!
