Description:
Our home is a 4 bedroom house in the Conservation area of Brockley (zone 2), which is an 8 minute train journey into central London. It has lots of original period features such as high ceilings and coving, with a mixture of traditional and contemporary furnishings. The whole of the ground floor and master bedroom have hardwood flooring whilst the upstairs hall and 3 further double bedrooms are carpeted.
The master bedroom has a superking sized bed; both of the children's rooms are double sized (the nursery currently has a cot-bed and our son's room has a single bed stacking bed which can turn into 2 singles for sleepovers). The 4th bedroom is being used as a music recording studio/office and includes a piano and kingsize sofa bed.
The kitchen has hand made solid wood cabinets with granite worktops and stainless steel appliances, built in dishwasher and microwave. We have a family bathroom upstairs with a double ended clawfoot bath and separate shower. There is a separate w.c. upstairs as well as a further downstairs toilet. In addition, downstairs there is a utility room with a washer/dryer.
Outside, our home has a lovely garden with a spacious deck for lounging as well as a lawn and raised stone patio sun-trap with chunky oak bench seating. There is a wooden playhouse for the children as well as a mini slide and trampoline.
Brockley is very family friendly with a lot of artists, musicians, actors etc who enjoy the diversity and the green open spaces. (Hilly Fields Park is at the top of our road if you want to google it) We have good transport links with regular trains and lots of bus routes. There are good primary schools in the area and we are very close to Prendergast girls' school - which is in Hilly Fields Park.
This is a great base for exploring London and all that it has to offer. Our train services terminate very close to the South Bank, with many attractions such as theatres, restaurants, the London Eye, London Aquarium, not to mention the beautiful river walks along the Thames. Brockley is also well placed to visit nearby Greenwich with the Royal parks, Observatory, shopping and restaurants.
