Anchorage

Dec 31, 2019 We have a 2400+ sq. ft. tri-level home with three-bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths in a quiet subdivision in south Anchorage. Our home is very comfortable. The kitchen, main bathrooms and exterior have recently been remodeled, including new carpeting throughout.

The living room has new comfortable leather furniture, a fireplace and entertainment center with plasma cable TV, DVD player, and a Bose Wave Machine. We have a laptop available for your use.

There is a ping pong table in the partially-finished basement. The uppermost level contains all bedrooms; master and spare bedroom have queen-size beds; third bedroom serves as an office, but we have two rollaway beds that can be used.

We have two attached decks (upper and lower) in the backyard, which has numerous birch trees, a strawberry garden and a raspberry patch. Our two-car heated garage has a 2005 Subaru Outback wagon and a 2002 Mazda pickup w/bike rack, and two 21-speed mountain bikes available for use.

Our quiet subdivision is just minutes from everything Anchorage and the surrounding area has to offer. The nearest grocery store (Safeway) is just 1/2-mile away, and we're two miles from Anchorage's largest shopping mall. There are virtually hundreds of miles of biking/x-country ski trails throughout Anchorage and in the Chugach Mts., just east of town. Alyeska Ski Resort is only 40 miles south.

Veterans can enjoy full use of the large Army and Air Force bases only minutes away from us, on the north side of town.

In addition to summer and early fall, winter can be ideal times to visit Alaska. The days become shorter as winter approaches, but the long twilights bring out the alpenglow on the mountains. The northern lights can be awesome, and the cool, crisp air is invigorating. Some of the best silver salmon fishing takes place in September and October when the crowds (and mosquitoes) are gone. During the winter Anchorage becomes a "city of lights". In February, the "Fur Rendezvous" is a week-long festival that ends the first weekend in March with the start of the Iditarod dogsled race to Nome. In March Alyeska holds its Spring Carnival

I am a retired professional and my wife is a yoga instructor. We are open to exchanges anywhere between September and mid-May. We will also consider exchanges during June and August
